The D-Link AirPremier DWL-1700AP is designed for harsh outdoor environments. With die-cast watertight housing and a built-in lightning protector, this is a robust outdoor AP. It includes cost-effective Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) for supplying power to the AP when a power outlet is not easily available and it includes the necessary hardware for mounting on a roof top or other exterior locations. The DWL-1700AP is also versatile enough to be configured to perform as a wireless router. The DWL-1700AP provides up to 128-bit WEP encryption and supports the IEEE 802.1x port-based network access control with RADIUS servers for user authentication. It has MAC address-based access control and many other features for stronger security. With a built-in firewall, the DWL-1700AP can also work as a NAT inbound virtual server and provides IP-based access control.
